Storm In A Cocoon Review

Credit of the poster should goes to TVB.

This is the BEST drama of 2014 by far! Love the storyline, cast and the scenery!

This story start with Steven as the third child from the famous silk factory, he is a military doctor who escape the military force to return back home since leaving home for five years.

Steven's sister commit suicide but Steven believe that she is murder and he with Tavia, who is a silk worker both believe that she didn't commit suicide but is murder. They decide to solve the crime together.

As I am watching this drama, I'm thinking it must be Steven's sister lover, Stephen Wong or it could be the uncle, Joseph Lee or it could her brother Evergreen Mak because I'm thinking it has to be one of them because its TVB, its typical. This drama prove me wrong all the way from the start til the end. It is none of these people, in fact it is the youngest brother, Yeung Chiu Hoi who accidentally kill his sister. He regrets it a lot and Evergreen know that it was him but choose to help him by creating a scene that seem like she commit suicide.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any more complicated, Tavia's fiancĂ©e Raymond Cho return from two years, just when Tavia and Steven had feeling towards one another. My biggest fear is that this would be another replay of "Sweetness In The Salt" or "Cupide Stupid" where Tavia fall for the wrong guy and end up with him. Again, this drama prove me wrong, Raymond turns out to be a thief and he was killed by Steven as self defense to save Tavia.

Finally after all the ups and downs, Steven and Tavia got married. I'm so happy that I couldn't believe what I was watching. Did I mention that this couple is the couple that I really want them to have a happy ending? Just when I thought this couldn't get any better than this, Steven were taken away by the military for escaping the military and he was sentence to seven years in jail. My heart sank. Why TVB? Why do you have to do this to me? I thought.

Tavia were in charge of the factory while Evegreen turn evil because he thought that KK Cheung was actually his father not Steven's father. Evergreen plot revenge against his own family but later found out that he is being used by KK Cheung.

It turn out Tavia was KK Cheung's biological daughter. Steven lied to Tavia that she isn't the daughter to plot revenge against KK Cheung who killed his uncle, Joseph Lee, Mat Yeung, Steven's dad and other people.

I think the hardest episode to watch is  episode 29. Mat Yeung's character died because he know the truth. He overheard KK Cheung said that Evergreen is not his son and that he was using him. Maggie Sui died for Evergreen to be good again and that he would stop being evil. TWO  good characters died in one episodes. WHY TVB? WHY?
Natalie and Mat were happily in love but why did they have to kill him? Why?

Anyway, Tavia found out that Steven lie to her and left him. He tried to look for her but he couldn't find her anywhere. There is a flood from where Steven were living, and Tavia's brother told Steven that Tavia have return. Running in the flood while searching for Tavia, he finally found her. She forgive him.

Tavia were floating on the Silk Factory sign while Steven hold onto the sign to paddle it to the land, one of the tree trunk hit his head and he drown while there were flashback of him and Tavia  then he woke up and he was ok again. Another tree trunk hit his head  and he drifted away from Tavia.

FOUR YEARS LATER, there were no news of Steven. However the silk factory were running really well, and we know that Tavia had a son with Steven. While sailing on the river, she saw Steven, she and her son quickly run after Steven, shouting out his name.
Tavia run to him and hug him, but he didn't remember her. My heart sank again.
The son start to sing a song and Tavia sing along, it is Steven and Tavia's love song. He takes out his flute and play the melody to it. He turn to look at her. THE END.

Umm.. Is this a happy ending? Does this mean he remembers her? Does it?

I really love this drama. Love Stevia!
By the way, love the sub-theme Thinking of You by Jinny Ng as it play in Steven and Tavia's scenes!

  1. There were so many ups and downs in this series. One serious roller coaster ride that I really appreciated though haha. I was very impressed with how the script kept us guessing who the culprit was. I hope tvb can keep up to this standard in their future productions xD
